It seems I was always writing and photographing.

I managed an import / export company, living in the Caribbean handling sales, correspondence, interviews, write-ups, and advertising. I often traveled overseas, kept a journal and searched for a new outlet for expression.

I took up residence in quiet Juno/Jupiter, Florida, and went to work as Director of the Town of Jupiter Art Committee, staying happily involved in all the arts.

My husband John loved telling the children stories about his childhood and his adventures. When I retired, I decided to put those stories together. I interviewed family members, researched history at the Metropolitan Opera and searched through old microfilm at both New York City libraries. I dug into the Catholic Diocese archives, the New York Library for the Performing Arts, and the Grand Central Terminal and Radio Station archives. Family members added color and history, and four years later, I completed the book.

John Benedetto, my husband and Tony Bennett’s brother, was the youngest soloist at the Metropolitan Opera. The Shadow of His Smile is his story.
