Charlie’s Molasses
by Donna M. Carbone
Forty-four miles from Palm Beach is the deserted town of Bryant. Little remains to tell the story of who lived and worked on the land and what became of a once powerful sugar dynasty. But… some ghosts refuse to remain silent!
The Vodou priestess told her people about the first of their kind to be fed to the alligators. One young man had heard the threats that, if he did not obey his master, such would be his fate, but he did not believe. Late one evening, while walking through the village, he was grabbed from behind, a sack thrown over his head. He had no idea where he was being taken until the sack was removed.
Even as his clothes were stripped away… Even as the molasses was poured over his naked body… he still did not believe he was about to be eaten. It was not until the first set of jaws clamped on his face that he accepted his fate.
